My Spice Stories
My
Spice Stories is a little attempt to capture my everyday food scene. I can’t
express what joy food gives to me, both eating and cooking or maybe just gazing
at it.
We
are facing hard times as a human race. Times that are unprecedented to all of
us. While I am fully aware of the situation and the privileges that I have, at
the same time I think we should do something to utilise this time. It would be
a shame if we come out of this without adding anything to our lives. It could
be anything really, anything other than spreading negativity. I have decided to
try out things that I otherwise do not get time for. These “things” to me mean
a lot of things - recipes that I always wanted to make, clothes I always wanted
to stitch or just some DIY projects that were long pending. If you are not
interested you can choose not to follow.

I
had been pushed a lot by my sister, Namrata, my husband, Arun and of
course my go to person Poulomi to start a handle or a blog about my
activities. I do a lot of things you see! However, I think I lack
patience. Often what I start doing with a lot of enthusiasm and love stops
midway for the lack of patience.
Let’s
start with food this time.
I
believe cooking is a life skill. Everyone should know at least the basics. It
makes you independent and gives an amazing sense of freedom.
For
me it is pure love. Before every travel, food of that place is the topic I
research most about. There had been many a times when we would travel to most
remote ends in search of that authentic flavour. I have absolutely no
reservation when it comes to food. i love to explore and enjoy every cuisine.
Surprisingly
I have never cooked a meal for my family till the time I lived in Calcutta
because my mother is an excellent cook and we were mostly busy with our
studies. Hence, there was no need for us to step inside the kitchen. However I
had always been interested. I would secretly cook up something or the other
when my mother was not at home, most of the time they were inedible. It is when
I moved to Mumbai with my job nine years ago that I first started cooking. Even
then it was limited to cooking only non vegetarian. It is finally for the last
three years that I started cooking extensively in my own kitchen and stirred up
everything I ever wanted to cook.
This
quarantine has been a boon to me. It has given me time that I always longed
for.
Starting
a blog is a very courageous decision for me I must say. Writing is something
totally not my strong point and blogging, which will involve me sharing parts
of my personal life, is like pushing myself to the most uncomfortable
situation. However cooking is something that makes me feel most happy so I will
try and share the happiness as much as I can.
Finally!! Way to go girl!!
