Chilli Garlic Oil
This Chilli Garlic oil is going to change your life, like it did mine.
Ever since I have made this Chilli oil I had been adding it to almost everything. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - all started tasting delicious.
I have so far added it to my scrambled egg and toast, bowl of Ramen, Congee even stuffed some of it inside the bun I made recently.
It is easy to make and practically comes with no expiry date. It is only going to last you as long as you let it. I can assure you that is not going to be long.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon Chilli flakes or dried red chilli crushed to chilli flakes
- 2 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
- flavourless vegetable oil half a cup
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method:
- If you do not have chilli flakes at home like me then follow this step to make your own chilli flake. Pulse some dried red chilli in a mixer for 2 to 3 times and you get your chilli flakes. If you do not want it to be hot discard the seeds from the dried red chilli before pulsing. Add a pinch of Kashimiri red chilli powder for beautiful colour.
- Add finely chopped garlic and the chilli flakes in a glass jar. Add salt and mix them well.
- Heat the oil in a saucepan till smoking hot. Pour the very carefully gradually int o the jar. Do not hurry as the oil is very hot and will bubble up as you pour it. Stop and let the oil to settle and pour again.
- After you have poured all of the oil to the garlic and chilli let it sit for 2 minutes and stir it with a spoon. Keep the lid open. At this point your kitchen will be filled with the most amazing smell.
- Let the oil coll completely, then close the lid and store it at room temperature.
ever since I have made this oil I had been adding it to almost everything. The most amazing pairing had been with the Chicken Congee I made for dinner some time back.
